Simple Do-it-Yourself Earbud Earphones Cleaning

Posted by Rex Martin on 21st August 2009

by Rex Martin

Earbud earphones are certainly not one of the “cutting edge” models of headphones that are all about audio quality. On the other hand, these earphones are very cheap for an earphone and are also small enough to be kept in your pocket and brought anywhere you want to.

This is the very reason why numerous music aficionados still do not replace these earphones, even if there are several other earphones with other models that are more advanced in the market. So if you belong to this group of aficionados, then it is a good idea to learn just how you can clean your earphones and keep them in tiptop shape for more years to come.

Dirt and other filthy particles can enter your earphones’ earbuds eventually, particularly when not in use. Moreover, sweat and wax of the user can also add up to the dirt in the earphones. And the bad news is that the dirt that amassed your earphones can not only be disgusting but can also contribute complications and harm to the ear, ear infections in particular.

This is the very reason why it is a must that you learn the right procedure in tidying your earbud earphones. Wiping alone is not enough to clean all the dirt from your earphones. You should make use of a cleaning solution, one that is able to loosen dirt that hardened in your earphone parts overtime. In order to produce a solution, you may opt to make use of hydrogen peroxide or simply mixing soap and warm water.

To start cleaning your earphones, you should obviously remove it from the gadget to where it is attached. Keep the gadget away and, if ever, remove it from an outlet or any other power source so electrocution and grounding may be avoided.

Once you have done this, you may now stir your solution. Once it is slippery, dip a cloth on the solution you made and squeeze out the remaining fluids from the cloth. In doing so, the water will be prevented from flowing into the earphones. Water inside the wirings can be a cause of malfunction in the earphones. Apply the solution in the part of the earphone that needs to be cleaned.

You should also make sure that soap does not enter the holes in the earbud earphones to prevent malfunctions. If the earphone’s mesh collected too much dirt, the liquid solution is not to be used. Instead, find an old toothbrush and simply scrape away the dirt stuck in it.

Since you know the simple steps in maintaining the cleanliness of your earbud earphones, you will never have to worry yourself from any fault in your earphones. You can also avoid any infections. By following this method of cleaning, you may set aside some of your money and effort for buying new earphones.

One of the best feature an Ipod Docking station should have is a remote control. Without one, you are forced to change songs, manually on the ipod, itself. Are you going to listen to your docking station, where there is no electricity, such as a beach or a picnic grove? In that case a battery powered ipod docking system would be of great use. Usually these are smaller less powerful units, but still are capable of producing loud sound.

Output jacks are very important feature. By connecting your station to your home stereo, you can have great sound , through out your house. Add the ability to run on electricity, you can listen to your ipod for hours on end. This is great for parties!

Depending on your particular needs, speakers are usually a reason to get a ipod docking station. If you like to listen to your pod loud, you had better check out the sound quality before buying. Most stores will let you listen to the docking station. If you can’t, check Amazon for some quality units and reviews from customers.

What You Need to Know About Your iPod Battery

Posted by James Logan on 9th August 2009

by James Logan

iPod battery life is an important issue to most iPod users. Once an iPod battery wears out, it is not easily replaceable by users. That’s true, to a point, as the battery is lithium based; although it can be recharged up to 500 times, it does degrade over a period of time.

Furthermore, because of the way Apple designed the iPod battery, it is tricky for owners of the iPod Nano 8GB to replace it on their own. This caused some users to wonder if the iPod Nano 8GB was intended as a expendable MP3 player? No. The iPod Nano 8GB was designed to last a long while.

As with all lithium based batteries, the iPod battery will not usually last more than two years. As expected, after a few hundred charges, a lithium battery wears out. Users who think they can simply open the iPod Nano 8GB case and remove and change the battery will be disappointed.

Instead of being easily removed, the battery in the iPod Nano 8GB is a permanent part of the case. The situation this dilemma created caused untold frustration to iPod Nano 8GB users, who were quickly offered an substitute by 3rd party manufacturers who agreed to either change the iPod battery or sell users a do it yourself kit. Apple also offers to change the iPod battery, but users have to send their iPod Nano 8GB to the company for replacement.

Users can also learn how to maximize the iPod battery power by logging on to the Apple website. The following tips and tricks will ensure your iPod battery will last longer: An iPod battery operates at its best when the iPod Nano 8GB is kept at room temperature.

Never leave your iPod Nano 8GB inside a car. Never expose your iPod Nano 8GB to direct sunlight as this can damage the device. When not in use, employ the Pause or Hold button. Any time you are not using your iPod Nano 8GB, slide the button into the Hold position.

The iPod Nano 8GB will continue to play if left in the play mode, which will cause the iPod battery to drain completely. Make it a habit to turn off your iPod Nano 8GB when you’re not using it to conserve battery power. Only use the back lighting feature when you really need it.

Constantly using back lighting will drain your battery faster than anything. Turn off back lighting when you do not need it. You can do this by choosing Settings then Back light Timer, then Off. You should be aware that even when you’re not using your iPod Nano 8GB, the battery is still working.

A small amount of battery power is still being used, even when your iPod is asleep. By ensuring your iPod is used and stashed away at room temperature, you can significantly limit the amount of battery current being used. By doing this, the battery in your iPod can last as long as 28 days.

The Passion Of My Friends And Music

Posted by Aimee Jones on 17th July 2009

by Aimee Jones

If you could notice, noise surrounds us most of the time. Coming from vehicles, people chatting or shouting, sound of the television, dogs barking and even, on some occasions, fireworks. And when we are sleeping, it doesn’t mean that we will not hear any noise at all. Car engines that are still traveling at night, the sound of the air conditioner in your room, these are noise contributors too. Sounds could be as irritating or could be as pleasing to our ears, and music is one of the most pleasing one to listen with.

I grew up in a family where in my mom and dad would always sing to us, it’s actually a profession for both of them. My mom used to sing with my dad as member of her band.

My sister and I grew up listening to their music most of the time. My mom would always record all of the songs that she has sung and give it to us to listen to. My father then would teach us how to sing them properly and make us record our own songs as well

Looking back at those times when we were still young, I realized that whenever you sing, just like my mother, you have to have feelings on it, and not just for the sake of you performing in front of a crowd. Mom would also tell us that whenever she sings, she would think of me, if it’s a different song then that would be for my sister and another for my dad of course. This only means that she thinks of us, her loved ones, and that is the reason why she performs well because it’s like dedicating the song to us even if we are not there.

When we are just at home, especially during weekends, the four of us would just sit in front of the television, doing some karaoke and singing our hearts out until we all get tired of it and call it a day. My father once said that the ability to make music is one of his greatest possessions and he would like us to continue it as well.

To have music in the family is a great way to spend and enjoy your everyday. You could be the singer or the drummer, the guitarist or the pianist, whatever your interest maybe, it will sure be fun for everyone.

There are a lot of ways for people to express themselves and music is definitely one of them. With so many types of music to choose from, surely you’ll find one that best describes your feelings or you mood for the day. Even if you can’t sing or play that well, that doesn’t mean you can’t listen to the music. Music is just simply for everyone.

I am a music lover. I love my music as I love my family. I can think of them whenever I’m at peace. And music definitely puts my mind at ease.

Why you should upgrade to Broadband for Downloading Music

Posted by Susan Reynolds on 26th June 2009

by Susan Reynolds

For anyone who has recently gotten into the world or download music and who uses a dialup connection there is one question which usually exists. Nearly all of these people wonder whether it would be a good idea to upgrade their dialup connection to a broadband connection of some type in order to download their music. The truth is that downloading music on broadband is almost a must.

It is not an absolute must to have broadband in order to download music. People have used dialup to download music for years. Despite this, it is far more efficient to download music using a broadband connection.

Many people who are on dialup may wonder why they would want to upgrade to broadband. Obviously it costs more money and for some this can be a deterrent. One of the biggest and oldest advantages to broadband is that unlike dialup service it does not tie up your phone line while it is in use and it requires no dialing out to get a connection.

The consistency of broadband is another huge benefit. Dialup connections are notorious for randomly dropping the connection. This can be an especially large problem since many dialup services have automatic boot features which disconnect users who are not actively moving their mouse of using their keyboard.

One of the questions some people have who are wondering about upgrading to broadband is why it is so much faster than dialup. This can be especially confusing with DSL which is capable of delivering broadband speeds despite the fact that it works over the very same phone lines that dialup uses. Dialup is limited in two fashions. Physically it can achieve higher speeds than 56K but regulations exist which prevent this. It is also bogged down by the fact that it is connecting to a distant routing station. DSL is capable of these speeds because no regulations exist on it and it connects to routing stations which are within 1.5 miles of the home using it.

Unlike dialup modems, broadband modems are capable of reaching high speeds. In fact, there are some broadband connections available in parts of the world which are capable of reaching of 65Mbps. Most broadband connections range between 650Kbps and 5Mbps.

There really is no reason that it would be preferable to download music on a dialup connection instead of using a broadband connection. The biggest reason for this is how long it will take to download a music file. A standard sized music file is around 4MB and this will take as long as 10 minutes on a dialup connection. On a lower end broadband connection this same file could be downloaded in less than 1 minute and some of the higher end ones are capable of getting the file in under 10 seconds. This means you get more music faster.

No matter how you want to look at it broadband is the way to go. There is so much music available on the internet at great prices and in some cases even for free. If you are using a dialup connection you simply can’t enjoy the music the way you want to. By simply upgrading to a broadband connection you will have access to all the music you could ever want.

Why DRM Technology is a Disadvantage to Music Downloader’s

Posted by Susan Reynolds on 26th June 2009

by Susan Reynolds

Many people who are in the recording industry consider DRM technology to be the best option for limiting users who download music. While there is no denying that DRM technology goes a long way towards preventing people from illegally sharing music there are some major drawbacks to it which have caused many people to consider the technology unfair. In fact, many people who regularly download music legally feel that the DRM technology takes away their rights given to them by copyright laws. DRM technology itself is software which is attached to the audio files which is designed to prevent people from using the purchased music in ways not accepted by the company selling the music.

The biggest problem which is associated with the DRM technology is related to the method in which it works. Most DRM protected music is downloaded through the use of a subscription based service. For this reason the software built into the audio file must verify that the subscription used to download the audio file is still valid. This means that the audio file must be loaded onto a computer with internet access at least once a month to prove that the subscription is still active. There are two situations where this can turn into a problem for users. Many users keep their subscriptions active but occasionally may find themselves out of reach from a computer when the time has reached an end on the audio file. At this point the audio file simply ceases to work until they can gain access to a computer. This can be a big problem for many people.

Another area which has seen some problems with the DRM technology is in relationship to businesses which sell DRM protected music going out of business. This often means that the DRM server gets taken down which can lead to legally purchased music not working at all or only working on the computer it was actually purchased on. This can be a big problem for many users who have spent their money on music.

Another area where DRM has become very unpopular is in regards to CD’s. It is rather difficult to burn a DRM protected audio file to a CD. While it can be done it is difficult because DRM aims to prevent this practice. The problem for many users who have legally purchased the music file is that they are then unable to listen to their music in locations where they may not have easy access to an mp3 player. A good example of this would be in a car which lacks an auxiliary port for connecting an mp3 player or other audio device. Some publishers have taken the stance that people in these situations should buy the CD but many people have taken to buying music online because it allows them to pay strictly for the music they want instead of tying them into a whole CD just to get one or two songs they may wish to have.

In order to try to help their users many of the online music stores have begun to remove DRM technology from their songs. They have instead started practicing less restrictive security measures in order to try to prevent the illegal distribution of the music. None of these methods are able to offer the same level of protection that DRM does but many companies view it as an acceptable risk because it leads to a greater degree of customer satisfaction and it allows their customers to effectively do what they want with the music they legally bought.

The Role Played By RIAA In Music Downloads.

Posted by Susan Reynolds on 25th June 2009

by Susan Reynolds

The role assumed by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has a great deal to do with the music industry all over the US. The central part of this association’s attention is control of good quality music and defending the rights of copy right restricted music. To achieve this RIAA takes recourse to legal measures against people found violating the rules set down by it. Unauthorized downloading of music has been a major problem addressed by it. Any copyright protected music can not be downloaded freely. With impending legal actions by RIAA staring them in face many online music websites had to shut down. It can therefore be said that RIAA plays a critical role in download of music of any sort. A short explanation of the function of RIAA in concern is given below.

RIAA was forced to change its course mainly because people at large were illegally copying, downloading music which was actually protected by copyright. The fight for this is presently directed under the control of Mitch Bainwol. In 1990’s there was an online service for sharing music files called Napster. People took advantage of it and without any payment downloaded any kind of music with it. This free availability of music also led to downloading, burning and sharing music with friends. With development of computer technology the matter of copyrightprotection gained more and more urgency.

RIAA was forced to take the step of banning online music sharing services such as Napster. To prevent illegal and unauthorized download of music a set of laws was put in place. In the early 2000 severe laws were framed which sought to put restrictions on activities like illegal download or even purchasing pirated CD’s. Youth were specifically marked by RIAA to be prevented from downloading music which was an infringement of copyrights.

RIAA has also taken to actively educate about its policies. It has paid specific attention to the youth population. It has conducted many seminars, forum discussions, and presentations in order to make youth aware of RIAA’s set ofrules and guidelines. To achieve this goal RIAA has approached many colleges and universities to help them in the matter. As a result universities and colleges have on their part have taken care to not only to educate their students but also making sure that no illegal music downloaded inside the university or college premises.

RIAA does not disapprove of copying a CD for one’s own use. Anybody after buying a CD legally can burn its copy. But when the burning is done for business then it is objectionable. RIAA will file lawsuits against people found making illegal copies for commercial use.

In 2003, RIAA came forth with a law that no actions will be taken against people who had downloaded illegally in the past. No action would be taken against such people if they expressed to not repeating it in future. This step was welcomed by many but the law was belittled in a year’s time.

Generally people are unsure of their feelings towards RIAA. Some are opposed to its actions and criticize it on many scores, but on the other hand there are many who welcome its efforts. In spite of a lack of consistent view about it amongst people in general it has to be accepted that in the last few years it has made remarkable progress.

In addition to copyright protection, RIAA looks after the sales and keeps a track of them. Records are marked and labeled as “Gold” or “Platinum” by RIAA depending upon the number of CDs sold. In summary it may be said that RIAA has reasonably maintained clean and good business in the music industry.
