Sony Ericsson K850i is First 5 Megapixel Phone for Sony Ericsson

Posted by admin on 17th September 2007

Mobile phone technology is a fast moving race to include the very latest and highest specification hardware and software into new releases and up and coming models. Currently there are only three models available with a 5 megapixel camera on board, the Nokia N95, Samsung G600 and LG KG920 Leo but other manufacturers are hard at work putting the finishing touches to production and release of their new handsets featuring this technology.

The first phone launched with the high specification camera was in fact the LG KG920, this is a little heard of handset and does not benefit from the huge marketing campaigns of its rivals, it has been available now for almost twelve months and yet the hype very much surrounds the two other popular models which it seems get far more market exposure.

The KG920 is still available now but from very select outlets, it is a lot bigger than the other models and this may explain why it has not faired as well as the others. The second and perhaps the best known of the 5 megapixel camera phones is the Nokia N95, the manufacturer have put all of their latest know-how and expertise into releasing this N-Series phone with features far beyond the reach of the KG920 but it does now have some real competition from a new camera phone from Samsung - The Samsung G600 both in Black and Silver Editions.

Samsungs offering is smaller, lighter and sleeker than the N95 and most importantly holds the highest resolution video recording capabilities available on the market.

The new Sony Ericsson K850i is a direct upgrade to the popular K-Series phones, the K800i and K810i both of which sport a 3.2 megapixel camera. These phones are classed as Cybershot phones taken from Sonys dominance of the camera market and they offer features not found on other models from their portfolio. Firstly, there is a Xenon Flash which is far more effective than the industry standard LED photolight in poor lighting conditions, then there is AutoFocus, an innovational feature which mobile photography far easier and quicker, the user can now simply point and shoot high quality still pictures at the press of a dedicated button.

The new K850i features all of these extra technologies plus its new Auto Lens Cover that protects the screen when not in use, no more forgetting to close the cover and being left with scratches across the screen. Another new addition is the way the screen can move from landscape to portrait automatically by sensing which way up the handset is, very useful for wideangled shots in the landscape position.

The K850i is also a 3G enabled device allowing for fast download speeds and access to a wealth of entertainment, content and streaming media. Users can check the news and sports headlines, view weather reports, download new movies, music tracks, and mobile content such as ringtones, games and mobile applications.

The new Sony Ericsson K850i is a worthy rival to the other 5 megapixel camera phone currently available, not only will it benefit from the loyal Sony Ericsson following but with the extra features on offer is likely to entice many new consumers looking for the best in mobile technology.

The Sony Ericsson K850i, Samsung G600, LG KG920 and Nokia N95 are just a few of the new 5 megapixel camera phones due for release this year. If you require any further information please feel free to visit our mobile phones website.

The Nokia N73 phone Posted By : Andy Fullard

Posted by admin on 28th July 2007

Out of all the phones I have ever owned the Nokia N73 smartphone is most definitely my favourite, it looks really good and has a ton of useful features it also fits nicely in my pocket, that’s because the phone is actually one of the smallest phones of its type available on the market today. The N73 is part of nokia’s “N” series which was first introduced in 2005, phones in the Nseries are always jam packed with high quality features and the N73 is no exception, it is described by nokia as a mini multimedia computer.

The phones best feature is probably its massive 3.2 mega pixel camera that’s ready to use after you slide the lens protector cover off, the camera comes complete with with a Carl Zeiss optical lens and auto focus feature, this means you always get sharp images for both photos and video, pictures can be taken up to the size of 2048×1536 pixels The camera also comes with a flash and red eye reduction and you just cant forget the huge 20x digital zoom capability, it’s also capable of capturing MPEG-4 video at 15 frames per second.

The phones screen which is capable of displaying 262144 colours is quite large at 2.4 inches and makes full use of its 240×320 pixels. The large screen means you can actually see what you are doing when your playing games or surfing the web. If you have a friend with the same phone you can also use the Video Calling function and see what there doing.

The N73 comes with a load of software applications pre installed including a selection of games, a MP3 music player, video and picture galleries, stereo FM radio, RealPlayer, a WAP browser plus a full KHTML web browser and IM client. You can also view Microsoft office documents and PDA files.

The phones menu system is easy to get used to and you’ll soon find yourself playing some of the free games on it, I know I did when I first got my phone.

I also like this phone for its music capabilities, it has stereo speakers and can play music quite loud, the phone comes with 42mb of built in memory but this is extendable to 2gb with a memory card meaning you can fit a few of your favourite cd’s on there, as well as MP3’s the phone also supports AAC and WMA formats giving you plenty of choice and getting the music on to the phone is easy with Nokia’s PC suite and USB cable, right now the N73 is the best phone I’ve had.

Which Telephone For Your Home Office?-Plantronics CT12 Review Posted By : Robert Lee Howard

Posted by admin on 9th July 2007

When setting up a home office with a new computer, fax machine or perhaps even a copier, be sure to pick the right telephone. Your phone will be your connection to the outside world and chances are you’ll be spending a lot of time on it.

If you’ve ever tried to work with a computer or other office equipment while using the phone, you know how frustrating it can be. A hands free telephone is one item that is essential. Fortunately, there are many hands free phones to pick from.

A good choice could be the Plantronics CT12 Cordless Headset Telephone. The CT12 2.4 GHz DSS model is about the size of a pager and comes equipped with a convertible headset. This design allows you to make and receive calls hands free while working or moving around. The handset maintains a wireless connection to the base, which plugs into a land line jack.

The CT12’s hand set is well laid out and solid. Its’ small dimensions 3 1/4” x 2” x 1” make it perfectly pocket sized. The display is a three line, backlit LCD. The CT12’s keypad is simple to use but the tiny buttons seem a bit awkward at first. One problem is the belt clip: it allows the phone to fall off. It’s best to carry it in a pocket.

The lightweight headset can be worn over the ear or over the head. Either position is comfortable but most people prefer over the head. It just feels much more secure. The CT12 has a feature that the manufacturer calls “Firefly”. This is a small red light at the end of the microphone that blinks to let others know that the phone is in use.

The sound quality, both incoming and outgoing, is very good. The microphone’s noise canceling technology helps to eliminate background noise, such as air conditioners. The CT12’s range is 100 FT. from the base. You can walk around your house, into the garage or even outside with no loss of reception. The lithium ion battery provides 5 to 6 hours of talk time or 14 days on standby.

The CT12 comes with all of the standard features: speed dialing, a phone book that has enough room for 100 numbers, call waiting, caller ID and chain dialing. Chain dialing allows you to store numbers that are after your call connects, such as extension or account numbers. There is no speaker phone however, as the CT12 was designed for hands free use.

One caveat is the occasional interference with wireless computer networks. This problem can be overcome by pressing the channel selector button. Alternately, you can change the channel on your wireless router.

The overall quality of the CT12 is very good. This is a phone that can take a lot of punishment. All things considered, it’s a good buy.

The New Apple iPhone - Blessing or Curse? Posted By : Darlene Hull

Posted by admin on 4th July 2007

In just a single weekend, Apple Inc. managed to sell over 500,000 units of its new Apple iPhone. The anticipation was huge, and while there were a few minor glitches - mostly resolved now - the general consensus is that they were worth waiting for.

The advance of this micro-technology in the form of cell phones, mp3 players, PDA’s etc., is creating an amazing dependency on pocket-sized devices, and not just for the techies: stay-at- home-moms, children, even retired grandparents are jumping into the new trend with joyful - and addictive - abandon. We’ve come a long way, baby!

With all this advancement, however, there is still this minor niggle in the back of my brain that is forced to ask, “but is it really safe?” The verdict is still out on this one, with no one so far able to categorically say that this huge increase in brain and eye cancer is NOT related to cell-phone use; that this little hand-held device and the cell phone towers that power it are NOT causing an increase in autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and that these are NOT the issue behind increased infertility, new learning disorders, mysterious illnesses, or even confused bees that can no longer find the hives they’ve just left.

This new technology behind the Apple iPhone will probably have little or no affect on the retired grandparents as the length of exposure is relatively short. However, young children who are growing up with this micro-technological dependency may well be exposing themselves to some very unpleasant risks. Professor Sir William Stewart, the chairman of the Radiation Protection Division of the Health Protection Agency, said: “I don’t think we can put our hands on our hearts and say mobile phones are safe. If there are risks - and we think there may be risks - the people who are going to be most affected are children, and the younger the child, the greater the danger.”

The cell-phone companies are assuring us that it’s all very safe, to the point where they are now gearing their marketing to younger and younger generations of children, yet they are still putting clauses in their contracts absolving them of any responsibility should there really be issues. And there is also the fact that over sixty people in the medical profession world-wide believe the link between cell-phone use (and other forms of electromagnetic smog) and “mysterious illness” is a big enough risk that they have created the “Freiburger Appeal” requesting that certain precautions be put in place to protect ourselves as much as possible from the effects of the “new pollution” of these EMF’s.

Personally, I love the convenience of these new gadgets and can’t wait for the day when I, too, can afford the latest model of the Apple iPhone to replace my much used and much loved iPod. However, I hope that by that time someone has come along with the courage and funds to get to the bottom of the question of safety so that the only concern I’ll have on that day is finding the time to listen to all the great stuff on my new device.

How To Protect Yourself From Mobile Phone Radiation

Posted by admin on 1st July 2007

Mobile Phone Secrets

Now before I start, it’s important for me to tell you at this stage that I am not a scientist or a doctor. However being a person closely involved in the mobile phone industry for many years I wanted to give you a strong insight into the concerns about Mobile Phone Radiation and the protection you need from EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation). You can then draw your own conclusions on this subject and make your own decisions.

Later in this report, I will give you some tips and pointers to ensure you are far less at risk by using some simple mobile phone radiation protection techniques!

Ok, so let’s get straight into it shall we?

In 2001 a leading Australian Scientist began researching a link between Mobile Phones and Cancer. These were some of his findings:

* Phone companies are insisting that mobile phones only omit low levels of radiation, but tests have shown that even exposure to low levels of radiation CAN be harmful

* Long periods of time exposed to EMR can cause changes to cell structure and could ultimately lead to brain tumors

In June of 2004 a prominent neurosurgeon also carried out some research between Mobile Phones and Brain Tumors. Some of his findings were:

* A 40% increase over the last 20 years (since the beginning of Mobile Technology) in Brain Tumors

* Brain Tumors are now the No:1 threat for children overtaking LEUKAEMIA

* Most of his Tumor patients had developed these Tumors just above the ear on the same side that they use their mobile phone

Strange Coincidence or FACT? Certainly it’s enough information to make you stand up and take notice.

Some other interesting facts to come out of tests on this subject were:

EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation) can cause problems with the following:

* The Reproductive System

* Your Eyes

* Memory and Reaction Times

* Sleeping Patterns

* Headaches, Dizziness and Nausea

Now don’t panic just yet because there are some ways to reduce your exposure to EMR or what’s commonly known as “Mobile Phone Radiation”

Here are some TIPS that I would recommend - for protection against mobile phone radiation.

* First and foremost - try to reduce the AMOUNT of calls you make and receive on a mobile phone and where possible use your home phone. (Now here’s a Quick tip on this point too:
- try to avoid the cordless phone because they are not much better!)

* Take a look at the actual LENGTH of your calls because the longer the call the higher the possibility of more exposure to radiation.

I’m sure that if you’ve ever had an extremely long call you will recognize the signs like excessive heat around the ear area. This should be avoided as often as possible

* Remember that if you’re using a portable hands-free (with a speaker & cord that runs up into your ear) you are NOT necessarily safe.

A controversial test in the UK had shown that radiation can actually travel up the cord and into your ear which can be even more harmful accelerating the damage being done.

* Try to avoid keeping the phone ON or NEAR your body because there have even been links to infertility in men - (Frightening isn’t it!)

* Ensure you get your point across and get off the phone! In other words, use your mobile phone for what you NEED to say and then end the call as soon as you can…

I wouldn’t recommend using your mobile to make lots of SOCIAL CALLS (these are usually quite lengthy in nature)… You could be frying your head while you’re gossiping.

* Also avoid long calls BEFORE going to bed. Tests show that your quality of sleep suffers greatly as a result.

Finally, the best recommendation I can give is EXACTLY what I do myself and that is…

You might like to consider getting yourself a mobile phone with an inbuilt SPEAKERPHONE - In other words a Mobile Phone that has an inbuilt HANDS-FREE feature to give you ultimate mobile phone radiation protection!

This way you’ll be able to actually place the mobile phone in front or away from you - for example on a table, and speak and listen to the other person - WITHOUT having the Mobile Phone near your head or ANY part of your body for that matter…

It could take 10-15 years before we really know the TRUTH about Mobile Phone Radiation and the effects of EMR’s. In the meantime, don’t be a person that ends up with a brain tumour just because the Mobile Phone industry is trying to protect its financial
interests at the expense of you and your family’s HEALTH!

If you’re NOT currently using a mobile phone which has an inbuilt SPEAKERPHONE feature, you might like consider getting one soon.
